Scarves

Date: 10/03/2020

Let’s talk scarves!  Or Scarfs.  I can’t seem to find a definitive answer on the plural of “scarf”.  But as you may have guessed, I have many plurals of scarves!  I have scarves everywhere – in every room of my house, in my car, in my handbags and plenty in my closet.  Scarves are unassuming and, in my opinion, an underrated fashion staple.  From blanket scarves to simple twillys, a scarf is the perfect way to punctuate and complete an outfit.

To start, they are functional.  My neck is always cold and I am conscious of protecting my décolleté from sun.  You can also tie scarves around the handle of a handbag to protect against skin oils transferring and creating stains.  I never travel without a scarf to use as a light blanket against drafty planes and cars.

You can also find a scarf in any size, material and, most important, at any price point.  Be warned… the hunt for previously loved vintage scarfs can easily become an obsession!  Look for funky patterns, prints and unique colors.  Scarves are such an interesting way to try something bold or an out-of-your comfort zone fashion statement.

One last gush on scarves – they make a fantastic gift.  I can’t even count how many gorgeous scarves I have gifted over the years.  Perfect for any occasion or no occasion at all.  Just a simple “I am thinking of you” or decadent “you deserve this” surprise.  A scarf can elevate a boring gift card, be the showstopper gift (think Hermes cashmere shawl)  or even be the gift wrap to make something extra special.

Are you sold yet?  Send me some of your favorite scarf finds!  I can’t wait to see.
