I have been dreaming of visiting Mexico for over fifteen years and I could not think of a better way to have marked my 40th birthday. My first time in Mexico exceeded every expectation with breathtaking views, exceptional food and unbeatable hospitality.
Cabo San Lucas was at the top of my list because of the short flight from California with amazing weather in wintertime. Choosing the accommodations took a bit more research – there are so many fabulous resorts to choose from! I finally decided on Las Ventanas al Paraíso – one of the first five-star hotels in Cabo. Las Ventanas checked all the boxes: private grounds, amazing spa, culinary experts and views, views and more views!
I was fortunate to stay in a beach-front villa where the smell of the ocean and sound of the waves enveloped me from the moment I walked inside until the day we checked out. The accommodations were exceptional where every need was anticipated and small “surprise and delights” greeted us throughout our stay. On my actual birthday, the hotel went above and beyond with rose petals on the bed, my name in the sand and so much more. The whole day was magical and left me feeling filled with love.
The hotel is large enough for those who like to try different on-property restaurants or experience different pool settings. Although the hotel was following all COVID protocols, was exceptionally clean and distanced, we tended to stay in the villa enjoying in-room dining and spa services. It was extremely private and quiet, something I always look for in any hotel. There were many activities to choose from – we decided on a boat tour to take in the majesty of Cabo San Lucas and the possibility of seeing whales. Unfortunately, we weren’t that lucky to see the whales, but the trip was absolutely magnificent. The boat had amazing food and offered us a chance to relax for few hours enjoying the tranquility of the water and views. My chronic illness makes high energy activities out of reach so I was unable to partake in other activities such as horseback riding, ATV adventures, ziplining and the like. I am hopeful that I will be able to participate in more adventures in the future!
Las Ventanas al Paraíso offered in-room spa services that were amazing! Nothing like moving from the massage table directly to the veranda. Absolutely the best and so indulgent. To hear actual waves instead of a music soundtrack while relaxing was epic!
The food was incredible. Although, I didn’t have the energy to try any restaurants on or off property the in-room dining again exceeded my expectations. The chefs let me know what fresh fish were available and then grilled it whole along with some fresh veggies. Healthy and delicious! The Hotel was able to accommodate my dietary restrictions offering loads of options that were gluten and dairy free.
Throughout our stay, the weather was perfecto! The ideal temperature for light and flowy beach cover ups during the day and a slight cool breeze at night with a million stars filling the night sky. I kept my looks bright and casual and took loads of pics with Las Ventanas al Paraíso as the ultimate phot backdrop! I am excited to share them with you on my Instagram. Let me know if you have or plan to visit Cabo – I would love to hear about your stay!
